The project
How it came together
The brief
The owners wanted their backyard to feel like a room of its own — privacy from the neighbours without living behind a solid wall, a proper place to sit, and a front entry that matched the standard of the rest of the work.
What we built
A horizontal-slat privacy surround wraps the hot-tub courtyard, spaced so light and air still move through it. The new deck carries a built-in bench along a feature wall, lit for the evening. Wide, mitred steps cascade down to natural flagstone at grade. Out front, the entry was rebuilt with stone steps and black aluminum railings on both sides.
The result
A backyard that works day and night, four seasons — and reads as one built thing rather than a collection of parts.
