Dry rental — no operatorThe trailer goes out in your name, on your hitch.
The trailers are the one thing here that leaves without him. They rent by the day, the week or the month, and they earn while he is on a job site — which is exactly why they are worth renting out and the machine is not. What comes with that is a different transaction from operated hire: you are taking an asset away, so it is your hitch, your insurance and your licence, and it comes back the way it left.

- Confirmed when you enquire — tell us what you are moving and we will tell you whether it fits.

- Confirmed against your tow vehicle's rating before it is booked. This is a legal question, not a preference.
- How it is priced

Tell us what you are moving and what you are towing with, and we will tell you whether it fits before you drive out.

What a trailer costs
Quoted per job
No operator — you tow, you insure
You are taking the equipment away. You tow it, you insure it, and it comes back the way it left.
- Rental term
- Day / week / month
- Longer terms are priced as a term, not as a stack of days.
- Damage deposit
- Taken before release
- Held against the condition photographs and returned when it comes back the way it left.
- Proof of insurance
- Required
- Your policy has to cover a towed trailer. We check it before the release, not after an incident.
- Tow vehicle
- Rated for the load
- Hitch class, ball size and rated capacity are checked against the loaded weight.
Before it leaves the yard
- Damage deposit, taken at the release.
- Proof of insurance covering you towing a trailer that is not yours.
- A tow vehicle rated for the loaded weight, with a matching hitch, ball and working lights.
- Driver's licence checked against the loaded weight — Class G to 4,600 kg, Class A or AR above it.
- Condition photographs, taken together before it leaves.
HST shown as its own line. Price honoured as quoted.
Reserve the equipment
Tell us the dates and what you are towing with. Deposit, proof of insurance and a licensed tow vehicle are settled before pickup, not at the gate.
No obligation — we reply within one business day.
Before you enquire
- Dates
- When you want it and when it comes back. Availability is the first constraint, not the price.
- Tow vehicle
- What is pulling it, and its rated towing capacity.
- Hitch
- Class, ball size and whether your lights work.
- What you are moving
- So we can tell you honestly whether it fits before you drive out here.
- Licence
- Class G up to 4,600 kg loaded, Class A or AR above it.
Term and size decide it. Availability decides whether it is even possible on your dates — one shop, a small number of trailers.
Sheet note — Dry rental
Sheet A-520
The equipment goes out without an operator.
You are taking the trailer away, so the obligations are yours while it is gone: your hitch, your insurance, your licence. None of it is a surprise at the gate — it is all settled when you book.
Before it leaves the yard
- Damage depositBefore release
Taken at the release, returned after the trailer is checked back in. The figure is confirmed when you book.
- Proof of insuranceRequired
A policy that covers you towing a trailer that is not yours. Bring it to the release, not afterwards.
- Driver's licenceClass checked
In Ontario a Class G covers a trailer up to 4,600 kg; above that you need a Class A or AR. We check the loaded weight against your licence before the trailer moves.
- Tow vehicle and hitchRated for the load
Rated towing capacity, hitch class, ball size and working lights. If any of the four does not match, the trailer does not leave — that is not us being difficult, it is the part that hurts people.
- Condition photographsTaken together
We photograph the trailer with you before it goes. Both of us have the same record and neither of us is arguing from memory later.
When it comes back
- Condition photographsTaken again
Same angles, same record. That comparison is the whole damage process.
- Swept outAs it left
Empty and swept. A cleaning charge for a trailer full of somebody's drywall dust is avoidable by sweeping it.
- Late returnCharged at the term rate
The next booking is a real person with a real moving day. Tell us early if you are running over and we will work it out.
- Deposit returnedAfter check-in
Once the photographs match, the deposit goes back.
How a release works
- Tell us the dates, what you are moving and what you are towing with.
- We confirm availability and the figure for your term.
- At pickup: licence and proof of insurance checked, hitch and lights checked.
- Condition photographs taken together, deposit taken, agreement signed.
- You tow it away. It is yours until it comes back.
- At return: photographs again, trailer checked in, deposit returned.
Things happen on the road. If something is broken or missing when it comes back, we show you the two sets of photographs, price the repair at what it actually costs to fix, and take that off the deposit — with the invoice for it, not a number we made up. Anything above the deposit is billed the same way. Nobody has ever been happy about a damage charge, but everybody deserves to see the arithmetic.
Sheet A-520 — Scope note
The machine does not go out on its own.
The Toolcat leaves the yard with him on it, every time. A 61 hp machine running an auger or a trencher in untrained hands is the largest risk this business can create, and general liability commonly excludes equipment rented out to others. The trailers go out dry. The machine goes out operated.
