Hot tub and shed pad levelling — operated hireA hot tub wants a flat, compacted, properly drained pad. This makes one.

Hot tub and shed pad levelling

A hot tub full of water is the heaviest thing most properties will ever hold, and it wants a pad that is flat, compacted and drained — not a patch of lawn that looked level in June. Same for a shed base, a generator pad or a bin pad. The machine cuts the ground to level, brings in and spreads base material, and gets it compacted, which is a half-day job done properly and a long argument done badly.

Who buys this

  • Homeowners with a hot tub, shed or generator on order
  • Deck customers adding a tub to the project

Sequence on site — in order

  1. Position and size agreed on site, against the tub or shed spec.
  2. Ground cut to level and the fall checked across both axes.
  3. Base material brought in and spread.
  4. Compacted, then re-checked for level.
  5. Surround tidied and the spoil boxed off.

What hot tub and shed pad levelling costs

OPERATED HIRE

What a pad costs

Quoted per job

Operator included

You are hiring the machine with him on it. He runs it, it stays on his insurance, and nothing about the work transfers to you.

Operator
Included
You are buying hours of work with him running the machine. Nothing is released to you and no liability transfers.
Minimum charge
Stated with your date
Every hire has one. You see the figure when we confirm the date — never after the work.
Float — machine to site and back
Charged separately
Mobilisation is its own line, not something buried in the hourly rate. Georgian Bay and Muskoka distances are real and we would rather show them than hide them.
Attachment changes on site
No second visit
The quick-attach is the point of this machine: augering, grading and hauling can all happen on the same visit.
Base material
At cost, or yours
Quoted separately from the machine hours so you can see both.

Before we roll

  • Access measured — the narrowest gate, gap or lane the machine has to pass.
  • Ground condition agreed — lawn, septic bed, new sod and soft spring ground are settled before the day, not discovered on it.
  • Somewhere for the spoil — off site, stockpiled, or spread. It has to go somewhere.
  • Locates cleared where anything is being dug (Ontario One Call — five business days).

HST shown as its own line. Price honoured as quoted.

How it is sold

By the hour with a minimum, or quoted as a half-day.

WHAT MOVES IT

How far off level the ground starts, and how much base has to come in.

Also part of — Decks

Hot tubs usually arrive with a deck attached. If we are building the deck, the pad is part of the same job.

Custom Decks

Sheet A-516 — Typical job

What a typical pad looks like

  • A hot tub pad beside an existing deck on a lot that falls away from the cottage.
  • Cut on the high side, base built up on the low side, compacted level.
  • Half a day, usually on the way into or out of a deck job.
  • Access is the whole question: if the machine cannot reach the spot, neither can the tub.

The machine is new to the business this season, so there are no record photographs filed against it yet. What is on file is the finished decks work it feeds — 4 records below.

Before we can book it — 04 questions

A-516.01The spec
What the tub or shed manufacturer asks for underneath it — that is the target, not our opinion.
A-516.02Position
Exactly where it goes, and how it gets there on delivery day.
A-516.03Access
The narrowest point between the road and the pad, for the machine and for the tub.
A-516.04Services
Where power and water are coming from, so the pad is not sitting on the run.

04 RECORDS

The decks this machine feeds

These are finished decks jobs from the book, photographed as they wrapped up. None of them were taken with the machine — it has not been here a full season yet. They are on this sheet because they are the work the machine is bought to serve: Hot tubs usually arrive with a deck attached. If we are building the deck, the pad is part of the same job.
