Post holes — operated hireForty holes in a morning, not two days on a hand auger.

Augered post holes for fence lines, decks and pergolas — spoil in the box, locates filed first. Sold on its own to other builders as dig-only.

Post holes

A hydraulic auger on the front of a machine turns the worst day of a fence job into a morning. Holes come out clean and consistent, the spoil goes straight into the cargo box instead of onto the lawn, and the line stays where the string says it is. We sell this two ways: inside our own fence and deck work, and dig-only to other fence contractors, deck builders and landscapers who would rather not spend a crew day on it.

Who buys this

  • Fence and deck contractors buying dig-only
  • Landscapers setting pergola and structure posts
  • Homeowners whose own fence job stalled at the digging

Sequence on site — in order

  1. Locates filed and cleared before anything turns.
  2. Line pulled and every hole marked against your layout.
  3. Holes augered to the depth your build calls for.
  4. Spoil boxed as we go, so the lawn stays a lawn.
  5. Holes left clean and ready to set, or set the same visit if that is the deal.

What post holes costs

OPERATED HIRE

What a run of post holes costs

Quoted per job

Operator included

You are hiring the machine with him on it. He runs it, it stays on his insurance, and nothing about the work transfers to you.

Operator
Included
You are buying hours of work with him running the machine. Nothing is released to you and no liability transfers.
Minimum charge
Stated with your date
Every hire has one. You see the figure when we confirm the date — never after the work.
Float — machine to site and back
Charged separately
Mobilisation is its own line, not something buried in the hourly rate. Georgian Bay and Muskoka distances are real and we would rather show them than hide them.
Attachment changes on site
No second visit
The quick-attach is the point of this machine: augering, grading and hauling can all happen on the same visit.
Locates
5 business days
Ontario One Call's statutory lead time. It sets the earliest date, not the price.
Rock or hardpan
Re-quoted on the day
We stop, show you what we hit, and agree the change before carrying on. No surprise line on the invoice.

Before we roll

  • Access measured — the narrowest gate, gap or lane the machine has to pass.
  • Ground condition agreed — lawn, septic bed, new sod and soft spring ground are settled before the day, not discovered on it.
  • Somewhere for the spoil — off site, stockpiled, or spread. It has to go somewhere.
  • Locates cleared where anything is being dug (Ontario One Call — five business days).

HST shown as its own line. Price honoured as quoted.

Tell us the site and roughly what needs doing. We reply with a date and what it will take — hours, minimum and float shown before you commit.

No obligation — we reply within one business day.

How it is sold

By the hour, with a minimum — or priced per hole for a straight dig-only run.

WHAT MOVES IT

Hole count, diameter, depth and what is under the sod decide it. Granite country is not the same dig twice in a row.

Also part of — Fences

The same auger digs our own fence lines. If we are quoting the fence, the holes are already in it.

Custom Fences

Sheet A-512 — Typical job

What a typical run looks like

  • A fence line along a treed lot boundary, layout already staked.
  • Locates cleared the week before — that is the part that decides the date.
  • Holes augered in one visit, spoil hauled off in the box.
  • Rock or hardpan found on the day is re-quoted before we carry on, never after.

The machine is new to the business this season, so there are no record photographs filed against it yet. What is on file is the finished fences work it feeds — 3 records below.

Before we can book it — 05 questions

A-512.01Layout
Where the line runs and how many holes. Staked is best; we can pull the line with you if it is not.
A-512.02Locates
Filed with Ontario One Call and cleared before we dig. Five business days, by law.
A-512.03Bit and depth
Hole diameter and depth come from your build, and we confirm the bit before the day rather than assuming it.
A-512.04Ground
Known rock, old fill or a shield-country shelf changes the day. Tell us what the last hole on the property hit.
A-512.05Spoil
Off site, or stockpiled somewhere you have picked.
Locates first — five business days

Anything that goes into the ground needs locates first. Ontario One Call gives the locators five business days, so a dig booked on Monday is not a dig that happens on Tuesday. We file the request; you do not have to.

03 RECORDS

The fences this machine feeds

These are finished fences jobs from the book, photographed as they wrapped up. None of them were taken with the machine — it has not been here a full season yet. They are on this sheet because they are the work the machine is bought to serve: The same auger digs our own fence lines. If we are quoting the fence, the holes are already in it.
